We headed to San Diego the last weekend in September for our first real family vacation. We had a fabulous beach house just steps to the sand of Pacific Beach. It was so great to catch up with all of our old friends and their families. We ventured to Sea World and Balboa Park, and otherwise spend all of our time lounging in the sun and going for long bike rides on the boardwalk. Hopefully this will be an annual tradition!
Finlay and Isla continue to be the best of buddies. Isla is so patient and gentle with him, and Finlay just mimics and adores everything his sister does. The older he gets, the more trouble and mischief they stir up together and have been spending a little time on the 'naughty step' together lately!
Just because the pools are closed, doesn't mean the warm weather disappears. We had very warm days throughout most of September and we took advantage of that with backyard fun and outdoor adventures!
Summer 2013 came and went entirely too fast. We spent Memorial Day at our community pool soaking up the sun. Isla conquered the waterslide like a champion and wrapped up a successful summer of swim lessons.
Every summer, we loving having the Hammes family so nearby and all the time we get to spend with them. The kids especially love going to the barn at chore time to see the horses and then up to the trailers to spend time with the dogs. Sophie has a special place in all of our hearts and couldn't be any more loving and gentle with the kids.
Isla started pre school on August 14. She couldn't have been any more excited or more fearless to start this new adventure. Finlay, on the other hand, is sad at every drop of and elated at every pick up!
